Dr. David Bonanno, DMD
I am a San Diego–based dentist with a passion for restoring smiles and confidence through full arch dentistry. My mission is to provide patients with life-changing results by combining advanced clinical techniques, personalized treatment planning, and compassionate care. I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Roseman University College of Dental Medicine and have pursued extensive continuing education in dental implants, cosmetic and
restorative dentistry, and orthodontics. I hold a California Dental License with an IV Sedation Permit, allowing me to provide safe and comfortable care for patients who may experience anxiety about treatment.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in a variety of practices across California and Colorado, from community health rotations to high-end private offices. I have extensive experience with the surgical placement and restoration of thousands of dental implants, and I have trained and mentored many dentists in dental implant surgery, implant restorations, and the management of complications. These opportunities have allowed me not only to advance my
own skills, but also to contribute to the growth and excellence of the dental community. Beyond my technical expertise, I believe in building lasting relationships based on trust and communication. Every patient deserves not just excellent clinical outcomes, but also an experience where they feel heard, supported, and cared for.
I am proud to be an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the San Diego County Dental Society. Outside the clinic, I stay committed to advancing my knowledge through leading dental education programs, so I can continue offering my patients the very best in modern dentistry.
Virginia Mattson, D.M.D
Dr. Virginia Mattson is a highly respected Associate Dentist and the owner of Virginia Mattson, DMD. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippines, before relocating to establish her solo dental practice in 1996. Inspired by her mother, who was also a dentist, Dr. Mattson admired the balance her mother had between a fulfilling career and time for family, a lifestyle she was drawn to when choosing her own profession.
From the moment Dr. Mattson realized how much she enjoyed coming to work each day and playing a crucial role in her patients’ health, she knew she was in the right profession. Her passion for dentistry is evident in her commitment to her patients and her dedication to the profession. She is currently the President-Elect of the San Diego County Dental Society for 2024 and will serve as President in 2025. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the International College of Oral Implantologists, and the California Implant Institute. As an active member of the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association, Dr. Mattson is deeply involved in giving back to the community and advocating for the profession.
Outside of the office, Dr. Mattson enjoys an active lifestyle with her husband, Steve Mattson, a native of Billings, Montana. They have two grown children, David and Moorea, and are proud grandparents to Moorea’s husband, Ramon Colon. A lover of the outdoors, Dr. Mattson completed the 107-mile Tour du Mont Blanc, a challenging 10-day hike through France, Italy, and Switzerland, with her husband. The couple also enjoys spending time with their beloved chocolate Labrador, Moose.
Daniel Bonanno, D.M.D
Dr. Daniel Bonanno is a dedicated dentist at Anchor Dental, bringing a deep passion for oral health and patient care to the San Diego community. Originally from Stockton, California, Dr. Bonanno earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Master of Science in Physical Chemistry from the University of the Pacific. He later achieved his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree at Roseman University College of Dental Medicine in Utah.
Inspired by his childhood dentist, who skillfully balanced a rewarding career with time for family and hobbies, Dr. Bonanno began his journey in dentistry as a sterilization technician and assistant. He discovered his true calling in dental school, where he thrived as both a practitioner and educator, sharing the importance of oral health with his patients. Today, he is most passionate about oral surgery and integrating dental technology to enhance patient care, though he enjoys the broad scope of general dentistry for the opportunity to guide patients through every step of their journey to healthier smiles.
Dr. Bonanno is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), San Diego Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). He values continuing education and has even contributed to ADA legislative resolutions on diversity and legal education for dentists.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bonanno leads an active lifestyle with his wife and their six-month-old son. Together, they enjoy hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, and diving. An avid athlete, Dr. Bonanno has completed two Ironman triathlons and four marathons, and he continues to find balance and inspiration in outdoor adventures.
