Questions about dental implants
The entire process typically takes several months. After the initial placement there is a healing period of 3–6 months for osseointegration, and once healed the artificial tooth is attached. The exact timeline varies with bone density and overall oral health.
Most patients report minimal discomfort during and after the procedure. Local anesthesia is used during surgery, and post-operative pain can usually be managed with over-the-counter medication. Many patients find an implant causes less discomfort than other dental procedures.
Not for everyone. Good candidates have healthy gums, adequate bone density to support the implant, and are committed to good oral hygiene. Certain health conditions can affect eligibility — the consultation is where we establish that.
