Dental Implants

One tooth, without touching the others

A single implant replaces one missing tooth on its own foundation — so the healthy teeth either side are left completely alone.

Dental implants look and feel just like your natural teeth, blending seamlessly with your smile.

This is the clearest advantage a single implant has over a bridge. A tooth-supported bridge requires reducing the teeth on either side of the gap to carry it; an implant does not. More of your natural tooth structure is left intact, which benefits your long-term oral health.

Why choose an implant

What a single implant gives you

  • It looks like the tooth you lost

The crown is matched to the color, shape and size of your natural teeth, so the restored tooth blends into your smile.

  • It leaves healthy teeth alone

Unlike a tooth-supported bridge, an implant does not require reducing the teeth on either side of the gap.

  • It holds the bone

An implant helps prevent the bone loss that follows a missing tooth, maintaining facial structure.

  • It is built to last

With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them cost-effective over the long run.

Common questions

Questions about single implants

A bridge is quicker and does not involve surgery, but it requires reducing the healthy teeth on either side of the gap to carry it. An implant stands on its own and leaves those teeth intact. We will set out both options at your consultation.

Several months in total. After the implant is placed there is a healing period of 3–6 months while it fuses with the bone, and the crown is fitted once that is complete.

The crown is made to match the color, shape and size of your natural teeth. In the case shown above, the restored central incisor sits in the front of the smile.

That is common where a tooth has been missing a while, and it is one of the things we check at the consultation. Bone grafting can replace or augment missing bone in the jaw where it is needed for implant placement.
